Penticton Council Opens with Secretary Treasurer Vote

The Penticton Council met at noon and adjourned to evening. Charles Were chosen as municipal secretary treasurer and collector by ballot from six applicants. The salary was set at 25 per month. Committees were named for Finance Works Health Water and Light. The Clerk was asked to contact Kelowna about gasoline lights and to obtain their by laws. The meeting adjourned after routine motions.

Public Work Petition Aims to Extend Road to Okanagan Falls

A petition to L W Shatford requests extending the 4 mile creek road on the east side of Lake Skaha south to connect with the main wagon road at Okanagan Falls. The improved route would rival the Okanagan Falls to International Boundary road, reduce sand hill danger, and open fruit lands south of Penticton.

The new school trustee board met with W A McKenzie as chair and R Wilton as secretary. An extraordinary Board of Trade meeting was set for Steward's Hall to discuss district issues including a reading room. A concert fundraiser for St Saviour's Church is planned for Feb 22 with tickets sold ahead.

Boys Sleigh Outing by P. B. C. Ends in Happy Night

The P. B. C. boys met at 6 45 p m on Friday for a sleigh ride. Two sleighs from Welby's, driven by Ives and McNeill, carried 20 youths who toured the beach and Dog Lake then returned for hot coffee and cakes. Horace Lister drove the party’s plans, three cheers were given, and at 11 p m they sang Auld Lang Syne.

Penticton Conservative Association Annual Meeting Rewards Local Roads Plan

The Penticton Conservative Association held its annual meeting in the committee rooms on a Tuesday evening. Dr. R. B. White was elected president, with G. F. Guernsey and W. A. McKenzie named 1st and 2nd vice-presidents. Jas. W. Edmonds became secretary treasurer, and a council including W. T. Shatford, G. H. Feldtmann, C. A. C. Steward, B. A. Shatford, and Norman Hill was reelected. Two key resolutions urged MPs Price Ellison and L. W. Shatford to press for funding to build a bridge across the Okanagan River and to connect the outlet road to Summerland, and to complete the east side road to Okanagan Falls. The group warned that continued inaction would trigger strong local dissatisfaction.

Miss Lane and Miss Alice Mc Dougald traveled to Summerland on Monday. Mrs J R Morrin returned from Seattle after months away. Mr S McLaughlin visited Vernon, returning next day. Dr Connoly lectured on Vibration at the League Monday night. Rev C W Whyte had an accident on Saturday night injuring his eye. Rev J T Jones preached in his pulpit. A W Angus opened a confectionery shop on Feb 2. Jos Woods opened a new butcher shop. Glee Club organized and met at the Ferguson home.
