Fernie in Ashes Causes and Relief Efforts
A catastrophic fire leveled Fernie on August 1 destroying most of the city. Fatalities projected around forty with property losses of six to eight million dollars and insurance losses near two and a half million. Relief funds opened nationwide, with Spokane sending the first relief train and over thirty thousand dollars donated to date.

A Tuesday night town meeting chaired by John Power organized the first Penticton Fire Department. W F H Swinton reported on ladder and bucket storage arrangements. a six member committee including a Board of Trade liaison was appointed to manage the department. J Dignan won the volunteer chief ballot with twenty two signatures.

Kelowna Amateur Regatta Promises Wide Water Sports
Kelowna will host an amateur regatta next Wednesday and Thursday featuring thirty six events across many water sport disciplines. A Kelowna versus Summerland baseball match, a night attack on Alexandria, and open air dancing are planned, with visitors from Penticton encouraged to attend and assess spectator interest in water sports.

Boundaries Altered for West Kootenay Land Divisions
The Lands and Works Department announces revised boundaries for Nelson Revelstoke and surrounding land recording divisions in West Kootenay, Yale and Similkameen districts.
