Climate bill costs seen modest in long term

The Congressional Budget Office says a cap and trade climate bill would trim GDP by 0.25 to 0.75 percent in 2020, rising to about 1 to 3.5 percent by 2050 as emissions cuts tighten and free allowances end. Inflation adjusted GDP is expected to be roughly 2.5 times larger in 2050, making the impact comparatively modest.
