Circuit riding preachers shaped Clearfield County in 1800s
As early as 1826 Rev Timothy Lee Jr arrived in Clearfield County to hold services in multiple locations. His descendants remained influential locally. His son Joseph followed in his footsteps as a circuit rider through 1830s and 1840s, serving the Clearfield area and dedicating churches. Joseph died in Glen Hope in 1864. Eliza Ann Wright, his wife, died there later that year.
