Smithsonian NOAA partnership shapes Sea Hall exhibit
The Sea The Sant Ocean Hall at the National Museum of Natural History was created by the Smithsonian and NOAA. NOAA tracks environmental changes and helps predict weather, guiding efforts to protect planetary resources. The Mini Page interviewed NOAA reps to explain ocean study and its link to the atmosphere. Seventy one percent of Earth is ocean and its vast water influences climate and weather. Some scientists see climate change as a slow shift, while others warn of a potential balance point triggering faster change.

Ocean probes reveal CO2 seeps near Mariana Trench
NOAA sponsored ROV findings in 2004 showed liquid carbon dioxide rising from the seafloor near the Mariana Trench. The site serves as a natural laboratory to study ocean acidification driven by atmospheric CO2 from fossil fuel burning, affecting coral reefs and marine life.
