The notice invites attendees to come with a friend for Sunday services. It praises recent visitor turnout and promises a welcoming spirit. A near completion church near ing completion will ring a bell to signal the opening time for Sunday services.
Pendleton mailers are warned that a 3c stamp is required for The Times Centennial issue as some papers with 2c stamps are held for insufficient postage. A number remain for sale at 10c each to send to friends and spread Pendleton news.
A Pendleton notice declares the speaker is not a candidate for any town office and denies being a Democratic ticket clerk candidate, correcting a report in the Anderson Herald dated September 25.
Ralph Lennon and Carl Vestal will assume ownership of the Fuqua and Weed Restaurant on Monday and plan changes to create a high class eating house. Lennon is a known local businessman, Vestal an iron worker with prior restaurant experience, and the pair are favored to succeed. Fuqua and Weed with families will relocate to Florida around October 15.
The aged fox terrier Buster, longtime guardian of The Times office sanctorium, was hit by an automobile last Friday evening about six o'clock. The eighteen year old dog, nearly blind and deaf, received chloroform to ease suffering and was described as a faithful friend to all who visited the office.
The Women's Missionary Society of the Christian Church will hold its regular monthly meeting at the church Tuesday at 7 30 p m under Mrs Lewis Kinnard division leader. Open to all church women with a note of a banner year in offerings and work. Mrs Lizzie Marlow president.
Pendleton Vocational Department and Home Economics Class plan a repeat performance of Kindling the Hearth Fire in Markleville on Friday night September 28. The show drew a full Pendleton High School auditorium audience last week and earned high praise. Markleville residents are praised for securing the engagement.
W. H. Aiman named receiver for the Reep Grain Co. at Pendleton and for the Hendricks County elevator and has begun managing the business.
Miss Eda Tanke, librarian at Cloquet Minnesota for three years, has resigned her post and is expected to return home next week.
The Public Library hosts its third Community Jitney Supper at the Christian Church this Saturday to fund the juvenile department. Pendleton and Fall Creek Township organize the event which has raised about 150 dollars in prior years, with a market at Goff's Meat Market and a varied menu.
Russell Bates age 20 died at his grandparents home from peritonitis after a week of illness. Employed at Ideal Bakery, he fell ill Friday night and died Saturday at 5 30 pm. Bates was a Sicilian Lodge No 234 K of P member and a Klansman. Funeral held at the Baker home with Rev J Orr Powell and Rev C W Marlow officiating. Burial at Grovelawn Cemetery, K of P and Klansmen accompanied the cortege.
