Trustie Hunter Escapes Indiana Reformatory Work Site
Herald Hunter, an inmate at the Indiana Reformatory, escaped during a work detail near the gravel pits Monday morning but was recaptured within hours at the Pendleton Anderson pike crossing. He was returned to Michigan City State Prison Tuesday afternoon. Hunter, from Pennsylvania, had two years added to his sentence after this escape.

Baby dies in automotive accident near Pendleton
A baby boy from the Haskell family died after a car stop near the Jones and McCarty garage. Parents Mr and Mrs Haskell, and grandparents Mr and Mrs William Haskell of Morgantown, had earlier collided with a telephone pole southeast of Pendleton with minor injuries. Doctor Alexander attributed death to internal hemorrhage from the earlier crash.
