Fifth Battery Heads to Camp Custer from Pendleton
The 5th Training Battery under Capt. Conaty departed Pendleton at 5 20 AM en route from Camp Knox to Camp Custer Michigan after camping at Falls Park. The unit of 114 men and 4 officers with 94 horses 8 mules 12 carriages and 4 Model 75 guns camped at Falls Park before a 6 30 retreat crowd fired a 75 and lowered the flag. Pay day totaled about $3400 with soldiers sending money home and buying provisions as they traveled toward Alexandria from Pendleton.

Two Killed in Auto Crash Near Alexandria
Clarence Upston of Tekonsha Michigan 34 died Monday night at Alexandria hospital after an automobile carrying five men en route to the Indianapolis speedway turned over south of the city. William E Simmons 45 owned a Tekonsha general store and was killed. he left a widow and two daughters.
