The Eastern and Western Telephone Association Picnic was held in Grove lawn Grove on Wednesday with about three hundred attendees. Miss Thelma Carr of Noblesville won first prize in baseball throwing, Miss Helen Mandel won the lemon rolling contest, and Miss Stella Kramer placed second in ball throwing.

Mrs John Vance Dies After Prolonged Illness
Mrs Ella Vance age 650, wife of John H. Vance, died Tuesday afternoon at the family home four miles southwest of Pendleton after more than two years of illness. Funeral services were held at 10:80 at the residence by Rev George W. Winfrey of Alexandria. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Survived by husband and two daughters and two sons, Ladie John and Albert, at home, west of town.

Lightning struck the Jones farm barn near Ingalls Tuesday afternoon, destroying the barn and killing several pigs. An automobile was lost. Sam Jones was away threshing at the time.
