Penrose, Goodyear and George I Himes present an illustrated lecture this evening at the pavilion. Himes, a pioneer of earliest times, headlines an afternoon event with judging of exhibits under way and to be pushed rapidly.
The program lists Mirch-Entry of the Gladiators and other overtures with performances by Major Chas F. York and the Oregon Journal Band. A description follows of a guest, Jones, becoming increasingly intoxicated until police arrest him, interwoven with selections like Fat Medley of Popular Songs and Star Spangled Banner.
Farmers Union day featured afternoon talks by S B L Penrose of Whitman College and William Goods year of Colfax with C C Conners presiding. Tomorrow brings political addresses by Jay Bowerman and Judge A S Bennett as Himes presents an illustrated Oregon history lecture in the pavilion with photos from Gray’s discovery to early settlement. Judging of livestock and exhibits proceeds in the fair pavilion as John Temple and J N Burgess oversee horses, cattle, and sheep.
Adan jo the awarder of prizes for the poultry ward along with Hebert Withycombhe, director at Union branch station, and Fr. W W. Allen, superintendent at Merrittown, served as judges for the exhibits. The art exhibit judges’ names were not disclosed as per custom.

The body endorses San Francisco as the 1915 Panama fair site and notes M. T. French of Heppner is in town for the Round-up.
In Saturday's contest Judge Bean topped the state ticket in the county with 1128 votes. Ralph Folsom and Gilliland each polled 1226 for coroner and judge respectively, while Geary Kimbrell drew opposition against the surveyor race with the highest county vote.
Pueblo, Sept 25 The west had its innings at the Irrigation congress today as Frank Short of Fresno California spoke on water equities and state control of irrigation. He urged conservation and development of irrigational resources. The Colorado delegation backed state conservation and planned resolutions urging Congress to appropriate a million dollars annually from the reclamation fund to gauge public streams in arid lands.
San Francisco police probe a $6,000 jewelry theft from the Hotel Dale safe. The owner, Mrs. Albert Day of Portland, claims the diamonds were hers and has proof, while hotel managers say she did not surrender the jewels.
Chicago reports aviator Brookine will attempt a nonstop flight from Chicago to Springfield covering 170 miles. A $10,000 prize offered by the Chicago Record-Herald motivates the trek along the Minors Central tracks with a following special train carrying gasoline and supplies.
