Supervisor B Grandjean Idaho authorized $1550 to build a telephone line from Atlanta to Twin Springs in the Sawtooth forest. The 60 mile line links four ranger stations and improves fire protection with labor shared by the Atlanta mining company and forest service.
FE P McDaniel, recently back in Baker City, shows strong interest in a large flour mill project. He partners with Kim, G Reed and Wade, presenting four sets of blueprints to the Democrat yesterday to support the enterprise.
Postmaster William J. Lachner informs the treasury supervising architect of Baker City about plans for a government building. A large party led by Governor Hughes will depart Albany tonight for Gettysburg to attend the dedication of a statue to Major General George. The entourage includes state officials and notable figures as part of the commemorative visit.
Greene statue to be dedicated on the battlefield tomorrow with Governor Hughes as principal speaker. Attending will include the governor, General Greene family, members of both state legislatures, and 60 veterans from each of the nine New York regiments that fought at Culp’r Hill on July 2 1863. Virginia Patriotic Sons of America seek to buy Stratford house in Westmoreland County birthplace of the Lee family to preserve it as a national historic site for future generations.
