Buddhist Pagoda Relic Found Near Peshawar After 1000 Years
Dr Spooner of the Indian Archaeological Department reports unearthing a Buddhist pagoda near Peshawar about 80 feet below the surface. A bronze casket with Kanishka inscriptions and a rock crystal inner box held three charred bone fragments, relics linked to the Buddha. The find echoes ancient distributions of ashes among monasteries in Burma, Siam, Ceylon, Japan, and other locales.
