First day turnout at the district fair pleases organizers with strong interest in the horticultural display. Hooths are tastefully decorated while livestock exhibits remain below last year’s level.
A concert lineup featuring Rossini William Tell overture and Wagner Serpent's Dance. Performances include Pilgrims Song of Hope by cee Batiste and Album Leaf by an artist, with selections by Lombardi Verdi Delibes Bizert. Highlights: My Old Kentucky Home, Dance of the Hours, and selections from Carmen.

Salt Lake City reports an immediate strike of miners in the Nevada Consolidated mines at Ely Nev is being arranged in sympathy with the Utah Copper company strike at Bingham. Western Federation of Miners president Moyer leads the action while Bingham saw no new developments beyond deputies arriving and three dynamite boxes found near the depot.
At Hamley & Co saddle house two handsome trophies are shown for the Round-up. A gold and silver mounted bit, valued at 30 dollars, will go to the second place steer roping winner along with 100 dollars. A gold and silver mounted stage coach whip donated by Consolidated Whip Co of Westfield Massachusetts will be awarded to the stage coach race winner.
Little Rock Arkansas September 24 The opening of the lakes to the gulf deep Waterways association is in conven tion. President William Kavanaugh says the lakes to the gulf canal will benefit the country more than the Panama Canal and that the Panama project should transfer machinery to deepen the Mississippi and other streams. He asserts the Mississippi waterway will lower the cost of transporting freight nationwide.
Governor Wilson visited Princeton to vote in the primaries and spoke to students at the fire station. He warned against crowding polling places but urged college men to think clearly about economic forms concentrated in few hands that could control government as Democrats seek victory.
Washington dateline reports the U S Marine Band will depart tomorrow for a Northwest and Pacific coast tour. The ensemble will perform in multiple cit ies along the coast during the engagement.

President Taft ordered the U S transport Prairie to sail with 750 marines to Santo Domingo to guard the custom house during the ongoing revolution. The ship was to depart Philadelphia on Thursday or Friday as the crisis escalated.
Will Moore on behalf of about twenty five Jackson street property owners filed a remonstrance to halt proposed paving before the time limit expired. Officials plan to meet tonight to consider the protest while counter moves seek to have names struck from the remonstrance. A. W. Rugg’s purchase contract included a clause if remonstrance signed, reducing obligations. he plans a handsome residence on the property at Jackson and Garfield.
John Walsh, a sailor, was instantly killed today in Tavoma when he grasped a live electric wire. About sixty thousand volts passed through his body, leaving no chance of survival.

At Clifford L Morgan on Casble a man hid in a closet until discovered. a Savage rifle was found with him. Mrs Morgan and her hired girl fled with the dog alerting them. No other items reported stolen.
