In La Grande Oregon near Perry a hermit was killed about a year ago. William Mono was the victim. Two men, Trey McFerton and McFall, were arrested in Pendleton last spring for the crime and held for lack of evidence. McFall was later arrested again in La Granite and McFerrin was tried at an army camp in McDowell California. McFerrin was arraigned yesterday and given until tomorrow to plead. McFull remained in jail.
Washington report says a British troopship carrying American troops was torpedoed in foreign waters. The ship was not sunk and reached port safely with no lives lost, according to an initial government briefing.
