Mrs James Elgin aged seven died at her home in Connell Washington on October 16 after long illness. The body will be interred in Olney cemetery with interment tomorrow evening no services held locally. She came with her husband and family from Eugene in 1878 to Pendleton, then moved to Washington three years ago. Her brothers include Grant Elgin Allen Elgin and Judge Elgin of St Helens California.
A Pendleton meeting is held this afternoon to confer with General Manager Joseph McCabe of the Washington and Columbia River Railway about improving train service between Pendleton and Hunt's Junction. Mr McCabe arrived in Pendleton this afternoon from Hunt's Junction.
George C. Hatt is appointed manager of the Western Union. He comes from Astoria and is introduced today by Mr. Nixdorff as a man of professional qualifications and high social standing.
