Defense Puts Up Ingenious Modifying Claim in Circuit Court
In circuit court the State vs Henry Anderson dominates proceedings as he faces charges for passing a bogus check at the Last Chance saloon on Main Street. The bartender HM Kennedy testified the check was handed over by Anderson and funds paid, with Pat Harrity later vouched for by Anderson. Anderson admits passing the check but says Harrity gave it to him to settle a bill, providing money back to Harrity after the exchange. The case goes to the CRS jury while other larceny and indecency cases move toward trial. Several defendants, including Jesse Whistler and John Flemming, plead not guilty with trials set for tomorrow or later dates. Madden, alias James Goson, pleads guilty to forgery with sentencing tomorrow.
