Idaho Sheepmen Expect Major Culls This Winter
Shoshone trader E. Todd says about 60 percent of last winter’s sheep will be kept over, with roughly 40 percent kept this winter. Harsh conditions could force deeper reductions as hay stocks deplete. nationwide shipping shifts push flocks off ranges. Idaho hay is plentiful but old stocks were cleared last year, leaving tighter feed for a potentially tougher season. Over two carloads shipped from Camas, Wool River, Elmore, and Blaine counties, with Soltherm Idaho ranges in good shape and general outlook favorable despite reduced herds.
