An early morning tremor rattled Los Angeles with no damage reported. In Panama the canal zone was shaken last night as Gatun locks remained intact with only a superficial slide noted. Lt. Col. Siebert said the damage was nominal and that machinery was unharmed and repair could take about twelve hours.
Athens reports Greece is preparing for war with Turkey and has summoned workers to the colors within three days. Immediate evacuation of Dedaguth is ordered as tension rises. Belgrade dispatches say Serbs have set the tide in Albania, recapturing Dibra and Ochrida as they outnumber Albanian forces and push them back.
American authorities assured that Piedras Negras would not be destroyed and foreign property protected during hostilities between constitutionalists and federal troops after U S protests. Washington ordered no US troops into Mexican territory without direct orders. Marie Zuniga, American Mexican from Douglas, arrested in Juarez as a rebel spy while en route to work for a telegraph company.
Albany Oct 2 The impeachment court adjourned until Monday after ruling on defense requests to strike certain impeachment articles. Rumors persist of attempts to fix the verdict one way or another, with Sulzer’s counsel delaying progress and signaling sensational accusations to come. Sulzer’s lawyers say he admitted speculation with campaign money but deny misuse, claiming he was deeply in debt at nomination.
Centralia Pa Oct 2 Rain hindered rescuers seeking Thomas Toshesky trapped in the Continental mine since Friday. It is feared he may die if not reached soon, and officials expect progress by tomorrow as physicians express grave concerns over his condition.
Speakers advocated diverse crops for eastern Oregon farmers saying wheat alone is risky and soil depleting. Professor Holden and CL Smith urged alfalfa, corn and livestock, praising the pit silo as cheapest. Audience from farmers and business men listened as the talk continued at the Commercial Club rooms.
Pendleton library board members urged a combined city and county library with Pendleton as the nucleus. The county court favored the plan if there is demand. Miss Marvin the state librarian will tour county communities. The Pendleton family would donate 4000 volumes to form a larger library, with central operations in Pendleton and book requisition rights for each community.

Herman Oelrichs, a prominent figure in New York's 400 set, appeared before Magistrate Franklin today amid a bizarre auto crash case involving Luceile Singleton. Police seek a third man believed to have been in the car. Oelrichs was held after his mother bailed him out with her New York home as security.
Melvin Knotts of Dayton Washington was knocked from a refrigerator car roof near Huron while riding freights to Pendleton. He suffered back and hip injuries and remained under treatment at the county hospital as doctors expected a non serious outcome though full evaluation would take days.
Pendleton Commercial association calls a special meeting at 7 30 Friday evening to consider the proposed commission charter. Members urged to attend. J V Tallman president.
City Attorney Charles Carter advised council to table the Lowell resolution urging registration books be opened for the December 1 election. He cited general and special election registration laws as making the move unnecessary and said those unregistered by tonight can still vote if sworn in. Carter called the swearing in portion of the new law unconstitutional until the Supreme Court rules otherwise.
The council accepted Warren Construction Co. bid to pave Water and Vincent am Lewis streets from Main to Lor Wie at 1545 per square yard for a total of 16116 and authorized a contract. Supt. Lonergan will start immediately and finish Raley Street this week. The fire committee recommended 2500 insurance on the new auto chemical engine and discussed stopping insurance for laborer injuries with no action. A request for 6 1/2 days wages by Grant Wall for a foot injury and Brown’s 4 1/3 days layoff were referred to the city attorney.
A Boise fire on October 2 trapped sixty horses in the Parkins basement stable. The blaze gutted the building and the animals were roasted alive, per city dispatches from Idaho.
Reported since Oct 2 1924 a wide sweep of arrests and confessions links Harry Jones secretary treasurer of the International Association of Bridge and Structural Iron Workers to a broader dynamiting conspiracy. George Davis details a plan to blow up non union buildings and to exonerate the McNamara brothers. Davis asserts leadership of a 15 man dynamiters group and that the scheme aimed to terrify the public while the brothers were in custody.
Hughes Investment of Portland purchased from attorney 8 F Wilson and wheatgrower A Dudley a 199 by 125 foot property at Fourth and Ankeny streets. The alvestory building was built by Blake-McPall. Sale price totaled 269000. Ellse Hughes established estate office. C P F Bunker negotiated.
