Lowell Resolution Placed On Table At Mass Meeting

City Attorney Charles Carter advised council to table the Lowell resolution urging registration books be opened for the December 1 election. He cited general and special election registration laws as making the move unnecessary and said those unregistered by tonight can still vote if sworn in. Carter called the swearing in portion of the new law unconstitutional until the Supreme Court rules otherwise.

Water Vincent am Lewis Streets Paving Bid Accepted

The council accepted Warren Construction Co. bid to pave Water and Vincent am Lewis streets from Main to Lor Wie at 1545 per square yard for a total of 16116 and authorized a contract. Supt. Lonergan will start immediately and finish Raley Street this week. The fire committee recommended 2500 insurance on the new auto chemical engine and discussed stopping insurance for laborer injuries with no action. A request for 6 1/2 days wages by Grant Wall for a foot injury and Brown’s 4 1/3 days layoff were referred to the city attorney.
