Four mounted men dynamited and looted the State Bank in Dardanelle Arkansas at dawn. They spent over an hour on the safe, making 16 explosions before breaking the heavy doors and riding off with about $2000. Citizens investigating the blasts exchanged gunfire but no one was hurt.
Miss Lucille Singleton, a 19 year old Columbia University student, says she was stabbed ten times by a man after an automobile wrecked on Upper Broadway. Herman Oelrichs is being sought but not suspected. police focus on the assailant believed to have used Oelrichs’ car, as D. M. Claghorn, also tied to Columbia, is reported in Tacoma. The mystery man remains at large amid conflicting reports of the incident.
New York Oct 1 Friends of Timothy J L Woodruff former lieutenant governor and Brooklyn progressive leader were relieved by doctors as they denied paralysis in his breakdown at a fusion ratification meeting in Cooper Union. Attending physicians said he rested more comfortably than since his collapse.
