Mrs W H Jones Called By Death Pendleton Pioneer

Mrs W H Jones aged 64 died at her home 314 Lewie Street after a yearlong illness from internal cancer. Survived by children C Orville White of Seattle, F Jones, Patline Jones and Minnabel Jones of Pendleton, two grandchildren Marie and Donald Temple, brother H H Bailey of California. Born February 22 1865 in Perth Iowa, she helped found Pendleton and was active in charity and the Red Cross. Funeral arrangements to be announced.

Butter Creek land sale sparks 20 percent rise in value

Champion Shorthorn Arrives at Ranch from Portland Sale

Helene Conberland’s champion shorthorn cow and four young heifers and four young bulls, all pure bred, arrived at J. Ho Sterelé’s Blurgie ranch. The six-year-old 1650 pound cow has won five expositions and placed second at the Pacific International Livestock Exposition. The cattle come from Walter Hill Montana, Day & Roth Spokane, and Frank Brown Carlton Oregon, expanding the herd to eight head.

Pendleton Legion to Aid Weston Oganize Post

Thirty Pendleton American Legion members plan a 6594 departure tonight for Weston to assist in organizing a new post. The trip will begin at Main and Altastregta with service men traveling east to unite countywide Legion ideals. Dr Fred A Lieuallen Harold Warter and Allan Bynon coordinate activities and invite other Legion members to join at 6:90 for the start.

Fortland, November 24, Herman Banaster confessed to taking part in the Churemoot tavern robbery. The confession states evidence points to Smith as the shooter of Borges and Peringer, with Herman Shee and others linked to the basement scene. Police remain convinced Smith is the murderer based on the identification and prior containment.

New York November 24 William G McAdoo telegraphed Fuel Admin Garfield denying coal miners wage demands would force higher consumer prices. He argued many operators earned 100 to 108 percent profits and urged public release of income tax returns for 1917 18 to show profits and justify or deny further price increases.

Toeton November 24 Eight sailors were arraigned today on riot charges for taking part in a clash following a fire after ocean battle between over 100 sailors and 26 policemen. State police reported the fracas.

Restrictions on Coal Deliveries Hit Retailers and Plants

The railroad administration issued orders limiting coal deliveries. Retail condensars may not deliver to those with only one week's supply. Bituminous coal in government cars must be conserved. Additional restrictions apply to dealers and their deliveries to consumers. Delivery of bituminates for brick, cement, and related plants is to stop, regardless of prior arrangements.

Funeral set for J. N. Burgess in Portland Wednesday

Funeral services for J N Burgess, victim of Friday gunmen, will be held Wednesday at 2 PM from the Church of the Keleomer with Rev Alfred Lockwood officiating. Lodges Elks and Masons, to which Burgess belonged, will attend in a body. Surviving family members accompany Burgess back from Portland.
