The school board fixed December 2 for a special tax levy meeting and granted the civic club use of the old academy grounds on East Webb Street for a park. Miss Whitney of Independence was elected eighth grade teacher at Washington school, replacing Miss Marple who moved to high school.
A Spokane report notes ongoing testimony in the case of Mrs. Mary Choate versus the O R & N for 25000 dollars alleging injuries from a passenger train derailment near Pendleton Oregon on June 11 1908. Choate aged five claims being thrown from her seat and suffering permanent injuries to back chest and limbs.

Local Christian church members plan a special excursion train to Athena this evening with 50 to 60 attendees. The train departs Pendleton at o o'clock and returns about 11 o'clock, allowing participation without leaving work early. Revival meetings have drawn strong interest during the week.
A four member concert company from the Methodie church plans a Friday evening performance in eastern Oregon. The group includes a violinist, two violin cellists, a soprano and a pianist, touted as one of the best moderate venues has seen.
