Seven Umatilla County Men Return From Lost Battalion

Seven Umatilla county men who served in the 20th Infantry, part of the Lost Battalion, were discharged at Camp Lawry and arrived home. Returning are Alfred F. Krause, Willard Hanna, George K. Weich, Grover Minthorn, Harry Allen, Feite Preding, and Thomas Jagram, with others noted as arriving via trains. one man recalls the 20 days of intense fighting amid surrounding hostile fire.

Cedar Rapids May 24 Thirty two are now thought dead in a fire that destroyed the three million dollar Douglas Starch plant. Eleven bodies were recovered today and more workers are missing or likely dead. The blast injured scores, many foreigners, as debris and dust filled the drying area. Water mains failed, hampering firefighting as flames swept the plant.

Decision of circuit court settles a will and quiets title to a $620,000 land parcel in Erwin Township. John Milton Swaggart sued George W. Swaggart and others. minor heirs and creditors prompted the suit. The court construed the will to distribute the north west quarter of lot in range east, with questions over rightful heirs settled in the decision.

New Blydenstein Mill Takes Over West End Chop Mill

The West End Chop Mill will be operated by the Blydenstein Mill through the new owners Pendleton Roller Mill, with J. Blydenstein as secretary. W.
