About 195000 pounds remain unsold from an opening million pound stock. Buyers gathered at Echo for a sale yielding strong prices on several clips. The day ended with four fifths sold, and remaining wool to be auctioned May 20 at the next sale day.
Boise May 23. F E Richardson chief counsel for Western Federation officials charged with the murder of ex Governor Steunenberg arrived from Denver. Over 200 affidavits from Canyon county allege prejudice against the defendants. Attorneys say the change of venue is desired and may occur at Boise.
Major Lee Moorhouse photographed buyers around the wool pit as the Cunningham Sheep & Land Co. clip of 190000 pounds was inspected. The 18 sacks opened showed quality before bidding. The big wool mile drew today’s interest and the clip sold for a price per pound yet to be noted.
Seattle May 23 Laborers bound for Nome must pay their own passage this year. Contractors and mine owners report large operations and widespread advertisements for workers. In past years steamer fares were advanced, leading to contract jumps and lost labor for northern employers.
Memorial service organized by Kit Carson post G A R will take place in Hendricks hall Sunday evening at 7 39 with Rev J H Wood of Kennewick Wash delivering the sermon and Rev G L Hall leading a special song service. Members will assemble at Milarky hall and march to Hendricks hall.

Washington May 23 Williams the democratic leader clashed with Speaker Cannon over a roll call on the diplomatic bill. Cannon overruled Williams, leaving the chair in anger as the house went into committee of the whole. Republicans cheered amid Williams’ shouted rebuke and threat to turn the house into a beer garden.
Banks in San Francisco opened early as gold and securities flooded vaults. Savings institutions like Mutual Savings and Hibernian showed strong funds with little panic. The Humboldt Bank planned a gradual re-opening and promised to refund insurance for rebuilds. Line formed since 6:48 with crowds cheerful as doors swung open.

May 23 news reports Catherine Clutter aged 4 was killed at her parents home in Pittsburg when her brother Wiley aged 6 found an old revolver and pointed it at her. He pulled the trigger in play causing the fatal shot.

The court said the action would be without precedent as no court has ever enjoined an ecclesiastical body from considering its actions and equity does not rule on doctrinal matters.
