Oregon's School Fund Grows to Four Million Dollars
Oregon reports a four million dollar irreducible school fund earning six percent interest. Annual revenue from the fund will approximate forty thousand dollars, supporting state land department expenses under ten thousand, with about two hundred twenty thousand dollars to be distributed to counties by school population. Some apportionment reduction occurs due to land sale interest repayments. A portion of the four million is loaned or deferred payments on school land sales, with three million two hundred fifty thousand dollars allocated to real estate mortgage securities yielding five percent.
