Rebels were routed by federals under General Hureta after a major engagement near Conehjos. About five hundred killed and wounded on each side. Federals occupy pursuit and aim to annihilate Orogeo’s rebel force as they retreat to Escallon.
Nogales Ariz May 13 Smallpox in a virulent form has appeared at Mazatlan on the west coast of Mexico. Several deaths are reported and more than one hundred cases are noted. The US transport Bufford ia en route San Francisco via Salina Cruz carries two hundred American refugees taken aboard at various west coast ports.
Wo Lee a Chinese man in Meilford Oregon was robbed of 800 dollars in gold by an unknown Chinese man. In a struggle he suffered a severe cut over the heart and the intruder stabbed him to obtain the key to a chest containing the money.
