LAY OVER AT UMATILLA FOR RAIL CONDUCTORS
Pendleton-Portland run conductors on the O R and N now lay over in Umatilla after Spokane flights due to a new rate and service law. Crews no longer double back to Portland or Spokane immediately, staying 24 hours in Umatilla or their home base. The change reduces continuous service and sparks dissatisfaction among crews who favor home layovers.
