Lumbermen Gain Victory Over Railroads
Washington May 12 Two declarations of importance to northwest lumber interests were handed down by the interstate commerce commission yesterday. Complainants including Kalispell Lumber company and Hig Blackfoot Milling company were victorious against the Great Northern and other railroads. The commission sustains the complainants and orders rate differentials of about 2 1 2 cents per hundred pounds to be established by August 1. The orders will cut lumber rates from Montana mills and give eastern shipments about two cents per hundred pounds more favorable than Spokane group mills for at least two years.
