Washington March 15 after conferences this morning between prominent Senators and the President it was decided to allow the San Domingo treaty to go over without a vote until the next session of Congress. Republican members are absent and Democrats would kill the measure if brought to a vote.
Washington March 1 The president nominated John H Campbell to be associate justice of the supreme court of Arizona.
Kansas official James R. Garfield will depart for a brief fishing trip then travel to Kansas to address oil interests. No public hearings planned, but conferences will include business leaders and legislators as depositions in the Santa Fe oil case continue. Foster Allen testified freight rates forced J. S. Knapp from the oil business.
