Bum the dog hero of Spokane fire saves two lives
In Spokane on February 23 a three year old bulldog named Bum owned by F F Farrar of Spokane fire department station No 6 wore a steel studded collar with a badge noting it saved two lives in a February fire. Fire broke out at Farrar’s home as he was elsewhere. Bum alerted Farrar’s wife and their four year old daughter, leading them through smoke to safety before the cottage burned. Neighbors cared for them and Chief Weeks praised the dog, fundraising provided the collar and life-saver plate. Bum has long shown courage, saving people from smoke on prior occasions.
