The device oils wagon axles without wheel removal, with John D. Jones of Walla Walla as inventor. Meacham envisions a local plant producing wagons in cast for shipment, parts assembled here, under the Pendleton wagon name, with several boxes already in use and praised. The committee showed encouragement and asked for a more definite proposal at a later date, with leaders including Jim Robinson and Dr J Smith present.
Miss Mildred Finnell daughter of William A Finnell of 211 Johnson Street, a popular high school girl, lost several inches of a braid Saturday night after a man seated behind her in a moving picture theater snipped it. She believes she can identify the assailant if seen again. The incident marks the first appearance of a “Jack the Snipper” in Pen deton, following reports of “Jack the Grabber” in other cities. Police caution that such acts may be criminal or commercial in motive and cause citywide concern.
The National Assembly approved China's new constitution, which empowers the assembly to elect the president and vice president and to control the cabinet, with a majority vote needed to override the president's veto. Alta Lodge No 160 IOOF plans a $15,000 brick building in Pilot Rock on Willow street. The 65 by 50 foot structure will house three store rooms on the first floor and a lodge room upstairs. First Bank of Pilot Rock and other merchants will occupy the first floor spaces.

The Flora Hill, a passenger and freight steamer between Chicago and Kenosha, sprang a large hole on March 11 after being rammed by ice and sank two miles from the harbor. Thirty one passengers and crew walked across the ice to safety and were rescued by tugs.
