In Pendleton's early days around 1900 the first car was steam powered and local history notes a lack of sleep and a missing plumber. The Pendleton Auto Show and Round-Up were yet unknown, while merchants carnival and a horseless carriage era shaped local legends surrounding Wells, Elam, and Kumdoreen in a hazy reminiscence.
