Roosevelt Delegates form progressive bid at Chicago meeting
Roosevelt supporters gathered at Orchestra Hall in Chicago on June 24 to nominate Theodore Roosevelt for president, denouncing the Taft contingent and fraudulent delegates at the Republican convention. Governor Johnson presided, speakers criticized the old party system, and Roosevelt himself accepted the nomination as leader of a new progressive movement.
