Four Drowned in the Columbia River Tragedy
Conconully Washington June 24 word arrived of four men drowned when a ferryboat Bert and Rich Webber and two hired men sank on the Columbia River Tuesday afternoon. Twenty head of horses were lost. The wives of the farmers witnessed the tragedy from the river bank.

In St Michaels Maryland on June 24 the body of Edith May Thompson, adopted daughter of a local wealthy landowner near here, was identified. The states attorney urged the arrest of John T. Roberts, seen with the girl. Gilbert Woodill, a prominent local figure, said he had word from Lyman J. Gage in San Diego that Edith May Thompson, wife of Woodill, was murdered in Maryland. Woodill collapsed upon confirmation. She was visiting her father at McDaniel Maryland.
