Chicago June 20 The Republican convention opened with little business aside from a prayer and adjourned to 11 tomorrow. A major topic was moving Hadley to head the Roosevelt ticket amid rumored friction. Roosevelt issued a temporary denial then said he would lead a new progressive party. Taft denied exiting the contest. Roosevelt delegates planned a walkout, contingent on later developments. Alton B Parker chaired the Democratic convention in Baltimore.
