Ruling Loosens Acre Restrictions on Reclamation Assignments
Washington June 18 Special Secretary Lane on June 12 set aside paragraph 38 of the February 6 1913 general reclamation regulations and issued a new rule removing the homestead qualification limit on assignments under the June 24 1910 act. The prior Fisher interpretation barred many from selling entries and parts of entries before final payment. The Lane ruling allows assignments up to 160 acres with a bona fide sale and prohibits inter-spousal transfers.
