A severe Monday storm caused major flooding along Heppner Road and across bridges at Lee's, destroying thousands of alfalfa and damaging crops. Travelers faced blocked routes as rivers rose, with one witness detailing walls of water and swift currents. Bridges gave way, roads turned to torrents, and residents rushed to shelter amid the deluge.
Relief efforts faced slow progress as trains delayed by the accident. A wagon carrying provisions for Heppner was halted by Birch creek storm and compelled to turn back. The road was redistributed among local merchants who supplied it, with reimbursement to be handled if merchants approve. The relief push intends to reissue the material to those in need.
A report of a pudburst in Comb's Canyon last night washed away Weldgos and fences along the gorge. The school bones were carried downstream and the entire area sustained severe destruction of hay and other property.
In Butte Montana June 146 word has been reverved that the cut off from Columbia Falls or Kalispell on the Great Northern, and on the Northern Pacific will be built at once. Work will begin within 60 days. The new line will open up rich Montana country and provide a direct route from the Crows Nest coal fields to the Bure and Anaconda mines and smelters.
East St. Lowis reports a fatal accident as a skiff overturned on Railroads avenue in the morning, drowning a boy and a girl. Rescuers located both victims but could not save them. Authorities are investigating the incident.

John Keller brother of Alvie Keller of Hibelty died at his sister Mrs. Albert Rhoden's home at 64 Cottonwood last evening at 8. He was a Nebraska native born August 24, 188. After a brief illness he moved here about two weeks ago seeking improved health from climate change but died of quick consumption. Services will be from Mrs. Rhoden's residence tomorrow at 2 p.m. with interment at the Glenny Cemetery, Hey Warner, the North Methodist Episcopal Church conducting.
