A severe quake struck at 1:20 this morning hitting Os Alamos and northern county areas. Brick and adobe buildings collapsed, merchandise toppled, and chimneys damaged prompting residents to flee. Shocks were felt in Lempera Santa Maria and nearby towns with no major damage reported. Los Alamos residents were urged to evacuate as further shocks were anticipated.
