Portland market notes demand for cattle at high prices while hog prices rise but tight supply limits gains. Potatoes scarce with sheep delayed. world wheat prices listed. Cash club quotes and futures across major exchanges show July and September bids and asks.
In Portland on July 8 the potato market shows stagnation with lower demand and quadrupled offerings. Cattle demand tops others with high current prices though no records. hogs lift as east shipments rise. sheep scarce with bidding up. Prices for steers, cows, hogs, and lambs are detailed alongside wool, hides, and grain notes.
The document lists prices for middlings or alfalfa meal and other feed items, flour and export products, bales, and several per ton or per pound rates. It also includes potato prices for old and new stock and hides quotations by Jacob Sheuerman, Pendleton Hide Company manager, noting rough values for dry hides, green salted hides, green salted calves, and sheep pelts.

A witness said seen near the summit suggested a possible escape route toward Wenatchee country. Sheriff Ed Ferguson plans a cross divide search with Wenatchee lodge members.

Entries name Pastorius Bergen McQuillen Devin Framme Campbell Maddox Gibson Reulbach Archer Nester Phelps Higginbotham Beckman Bilas and others across several 9 to 62 run lines. An advertising blurb promotes Foley's Urino Laxative from Koeppen Bros.
A Cleveland Leader quip notes the play’s realism as critics praise it yet many audience members actually fall asleep during the church scene. Separately a ad warns delayed Foley's Kidney Remedy harms health and urges Toby's Kidney Remedy. Koeppen Bros. advertises an automobile trip to Lehman springs via Penditeon Auto Co.
Advertisement asserts Foley's Honey and Tar stops chronic coughs that weaken the constitution and develop into consumption and heals and strengthens the lungs. It also offers comfort and relief in chronic bronchitis asthma hay fever and lung trouble as marketed by Koeppen Bros.
The Pendleton common council will receive bids for improvements on Lewis street from Jeff Davis to Patent, Patent street to Lewis, and Church street to Eddy, by August 4 1909 at 7 30 pm. Bids must include prices for excavation earth fill and rolling, per 60 foot frontage, with a $160.00 certified check, filed with the city recorder. The city may reject any bid as provided by ordinance No 604.
