London dispatches reiterate there is no foundation for postponement rumors and that Chamberlain is not seriously ill.
In Chicago on July 28 striking Western Union messengers returned to work under terms agreed at a Sunday conference. Postal messengers also went out this afternoon, demanding the same wage increase granted to the Western Union workers.
A semi official note from Paris dated July 28 says the interior ministry decree enforcing the law of association has met broad approval. In over 60 departments congregational schools indicate satisfaction with the decree's principal requirements.
Four boy stowaways aged 10 to 12 arrived in New York from Liverpool aboard the Civic. They hid in a lifeboat, surrendered on the fourth day due to hunger, and will be returned to Liverpool.
Minneapolis July 28 Chief of Police Ames returned after a three week absence and was immediately arrested on a bribery charge. He was arraigned and the case set for next week. Ames had previously been tried on another bribery charge and acquitted.
Santa Barbara dispatch reports fifteen successive tremors felt last night at Log Lamos. A severe 10 14 AM quake destroyed an oil tank tore tents in the earth and caused extensive building damage.
The Tremont, built by Maryland Shipbuilding, left New York on a voyage to the Pacific coast via Magellan. The pioneer Tremont marks a new Boston Steamship Co service linking San Francisco with Honolulu and the Philippines as a first class vessel of 640 feet and 12,500 cargo capacity.

Minneapolis July 28 near two score of top regional tennis experts gathered at Lake Stonka for the Northwestern championship. Players came from Omaha Chicago Milwaukee and even Gwennital to contest honors and high standings, with record participation for the area.
Chicago July 28. A M Rothschild millionaire merchant and son in law of Nelson Morris the packer, shot himself in the head at his home. He is believed to have been insane for the past six months.

An exciting runaway occurred this afternoon on West Webb street. Van Orsdall's drag team were the star actors. The driver was at the W. and C. R. freight depot loading freight when a piece of flying paper frightened the horses. They ran up Webb street to the Eastern hotel and hit a telephone pole, breaking loose from the wagon but were caught soon after. Little damage resulted, aside from a broken tug on the harness and the double trees.
Washington July 28 The war department received the Manila court martial record of Captain Frederick Wild on conduct to the prejudice of good order for failing to stop U S soldiers from firing a cockpit at Lineayan. He was found guilty and reprimanded General Chaffee, reviewing the record, ruled the court too lenient.
In Shennan Texas on July 28 the application for a receiver for the oil wells in the Veatch League Beaumont oil field was called for hearing before Judge Bryant in the United States district court. Applicants are Annie Trench and Frederick Trench of England.
