Eastern Oregon herds have largely completed dipping under state law and inspectors report cooperation without prosecutions. Morrow, Wasco, Umatilla counties show about 206,000 150,167 and similar totals dipped. future inspections will focus on diseased animals and open ranges in Harney Malheur.
Detroit July 19 report claims Prof Lyman Stowe foresees a world wide war starting in July 1908. He warned the conflict cannot be delayed beyond five years and foresees US involvement with the world, alliance with England, and ultimate American supremacy in the clash.

The coroner and sheriff rushed to Webb Street crossing last evening after a death report. A man was not found. later the report traced to children who saw a drunken man lifted from the track, a wild goose chase for the supposed tragedy.
The state railway commission issued a station upon the Oregon Railway and Navigation company to show cause why an order should not compel building a depot and station and locating an agent at Tonchet in Walla Walla county. About 1600 residents in Touchet and nearby areas would benefit. Hearing set for September 7 in Olympia.
Sisson Cal July 19 report that the Southern Pacific depot hotel and offices and the McCloud River railroad depot burned overnight. Laura Saxte a New York schoolteacher arriving to climb Mount Shasta died of burns, Lisle Walgamott a waitress was fatally burned. Several others suffered burns and injuries from jumping as property damage nears sixty thousand dollars.
