Lord Montague Says US Roads Lag Auto Growth
Lord Montague of Beau neu warns in The Automobile that the United States has three quarters of a million cars and will reach a million next year, yet roadway construction and maintenance lag. He notes American roads are poorer outside New York, Boston, and Washington, with dirt surfaces in the Midwest, and urges maintenance funding and a road use tax to support upkeep. His party, including Geoffrey Marks, plans a Europe trip on the Lusitania while inspecting American motor conditions and the Metropolitan Motor Speedway plans in New York vicinity.

Big Catfish Return At Missouri River With Giants
Kansas City reports a rare revival of big catfish after a long disappearance. Two giant specimens were caught recently, one 150 pounds and the other 187 pounds, each about six feet long with jaws wide enough to hold a keg. The 150 pound fish sold for 15 dollars in Leavenworth, the 187 pound fish for 13.75. The larger fish overturned two boats and nearly pulled a 800 yard net, taking fishermen over three hours to land it. The blue fish had twenty inch jaws and an estimated age of 95. The flood of 1903 is blamed for the previous scarcity as millions may have moved to still water or been stranded.
