Plans outlined in Washington call for President Taft and Mexican ambassador Diag to meet at the center of the bridge over the Rio Grande between El Paso Texas and Juarez Mexico. The meeting is set for about October 15 with Knox coordinating the conference.
Mrs Katharine H May aged 65 died from exertion while trying to catch the steamer Mon ticello. The ship left Tacoma for Seattle yesterday afternoon. She boarded but died before reaching Seattle. heart failure listed as the cause. The son found her dead upon boarding to greet her.

Washington reports nine million dollars of twenty five million dollars in government deposits in national banks called for last month by Secretary MacVeagh is in the national treasury today. The remaining sixteen million will be called for August eighteenth. This will wipe out nearly all deposits on national banks subject to check by the Treasury except about thirty seven million held in active account and needed to meet government disbursements and one million remains in small banks. The working balance rises to about sixty eight million, strengthening the treasury for months though further issues of Panama bonds or treasury receipts are anticipated before December.
Teheran July 16 Colonel Liakhoff ordered Cossacks to stop firing and prepared to surrender to nationalist forces signaling the overthrow of Shah Mohammed Ali and the establishment of a constitutional government in Persia. St Petersburg July 15 Russia ordered troops to arrange safe removal of the shah across the frontier amid reports he will abdicate.
Missoula on July 1 reports 750000 acres of the Flathead Indian reservation opened for registration drawing. Up to August 4, about fifty thousand people are expected to register as five thousand arrive in the last 24 hours. Lands are divided into 160 acre parcels, totaling 4687 parcels of land, with some among the choicest in the United States.
Bakersfield California July 115 A funeral procession plunged over a grade into a deep canyon on the road to Democrat Springs. An automobile carrying Coroner McGinn Undertaker A H Dixon and a party including Thomas Leatherdale fell about 100 feet into a pile of boulders. The wicker basket with the corpse rolled down and was not damaged. the men escaped unharmed though the auto was wrecked.

Secret Service men found two trunks said to contain missing books of F Augustus Heinze and the United Copper company. The trunks were turned over to federal authorities in New York after being moved from a hotel in Spring Lake New Jersey to a West Fifty ninth Street house. U S District Attorney Wise had sought the books for weeks to investigate Heinze's alleged illegal loans during the crisis at Mercantile National Bank in 1907.
Crowds search the Sierra mountains for EB A Liebscher after he allegedly sewed a button on both sides of his 11 month old baby's tongue to prevent sucking. He was released by the court, then served the child to a caregiver and vanished, last seen carrying the infant by the ankle on a country road. Informant fears the child was unconscious.
White Plains reports that Thaw laughed at his wife’s claim she would not testify in his insanity hearing again until she had seen him searched. Dr Adolph Meyer of New York testified that Thaw told him he had helped defeat Jerome district attorney of New York in a prior matter.
Sheerness England July 15 Thirteen men die when submarine C-11 sinks after a collision with an unknown vessel in the channel during a wartime maneuver. Survivors and wreckage authorities coordinate search as inquiry begins.
The Pendleton woolen mills near completion will soon have shafting aligned and machinery in place. Fire sprinklers, sewer and water connections are being installed, old machinery moved from the old plant with new equipment on order from the east. Power may be supplied and some machinery run within a month, with full production likely after about six weeks.
Joseph Ramos of Echo refused to obey a June injunction stopping damming of the Umatilla river to irrigate fields, cutting water to Henrietta Milling plant. Contempt charges may follow but serving arrest warrants before Saturday is unlikely due to limited Echo train service. Next steps remain uncertain.

Pittsburg July 15 Forty members of the state constabulary moved to McKees Rocks to quell riots between striking Pressed Steel Car employees and strikebreakers. The plant remained idle as hundreds of union pickets surrounded it. Pittsburg July 16 Rioting resumed after the constabulary arrived. One trooper was seriously injured by bricks and hospitalized. At noon four strikers and sympathizers held a mass meeting.
Thousands of visitors attend Elks events in Los Angeles with a morning parade of 12 divisions visiting the local lodge and nearby beaches. An afternoon program features further visits and an evening parade with electric and flamboyant floats while a brief Grand Lodge meeting in the afternoon is noted.
John Balsindoe, son of a wealthy Havana sugar exporter, killed himself in New York after being spurned by an actress from the eastern Merry Widow company. He had chased the troupe across the United States, occupied a cheap room, and declined to return to his lavish Havana home.
Portland July 15 R F Brackett a Brackett Meyers electrical engineer is critically injured after a midnight shooting. Witnesses report a well dressed man and a woman seen near Brackett before the shot. Brackett claims a hold up but police describe a possible partner woman and unknown assailants. The motive and identities remain unclear as Brackett withholds comment.
Washington July 16 The house committee on the deficiency bill examined payments to Prosecutor Heney for government service. He had received 70000 from the Justice Department from November 1903 to January 21 1909. Chairman Tawney questioned 23000 paid in 1908 for prior services. Field explained it covered earlier work while Heney served as special assistant. He also noted 4025 for ten months in Oregon 1905 as acting United States attorney.

A letter from Chick Judzon states that Los Angeles manager McCarey promised him a Tuesday night match. The missive was written before the bout, and it is probable Judzon will meet Wolgast who had the better of the fleet in their last encounter.
