Buckaroos Turn City Into Frontier Post for Night
The Pendleton Elks reunion in Portland transformed the city into a frontier scene with cowboys and Indians parading the streets. Buckaroos rode into hotels, bands played, and horses entered lobbies and bars. Prominent Pendleton figures and a large delegation showcased valuable war bonnets, saddles, and tame horses, while Elmer Turner organized much of the display and the group arrived with a carload of gear and stock.
