Cushman Buried With Honors Today in Tacoma
In Tacoma on July 14 the body of late Congressman Cushman was laid to rest after lying in state at the armory from 10 to 1:30. The burial took place in Tacoma cemetery with honors. More than fifteen thousand roses lined the route from Point Defiance park to the casket. Dr Alfred W. Martin led the ceremony and John L. Wilson gave the eulogy. Narrow escape for newsboy as horse pinches arm
Little Joe Monterastelli, a well known newsboy, narrowly escaped serious injury when a horse and buggy struck him while he rode a bicycle. He was knocked to the ground and the horse briefly stood on his arm. By standers feared a crush but the horse remained gentle, lifting its hoof when it found the arm was beneath it. He suffered a severely pinched arm with scratches and bruises but no broken bone and will recover quickly.
