Barnett, daughter of KE Barnett of Athena, had been living with the Harveys. she is left widowed. The elder Barnett traveled from Athena to Portland following the tragedy.
In New York on July 12 the 26th anniversary of American bicycle manufacture sparked a mammoth parade. Dozens of clubs and hundreds of riders took part along a route from Washington Square to 110th Street. Colonel Albert A. Pope, father of the industry, served as grand marshal with a staff of cycling veterans and former leaders.

Belfast July 12 The Orange societies of Belfast and nearby held their customary parade and speech making for the Boyne anniversary. There were some small clashes with Nationalists but no serious disturbances as police were out in force.
