Bryan supporters mass in Great Auditorium as crowds fill seats early. The Democratic Piledriver nickname is cited for Bryan Machine while Clayton is escorted to the chair amid cheers. A band and procession head to Fairview for congratulation speeches as plans to adopt the platform and nominate Bryan are set for tonight after a 7 o'clock recess.
Third day at the Denver convention convened at 11:30 oclock with permanent organization completed and Permanent Chairman Clayton delivering the opening speech. The resolutions committee works on platform language to be adopted later. Tonight may see nominating speeches and presidential vote. vice presidential outcome remains undecided. Total convention vote stands at 1006 after Oklahoma gains four votes. two thirds required is 671.
In Denver on July 9 the so called Democratic pile driver moves smoothly as Ollie James Jim Dahlman and Chairman Bell inspect ropes and fixtures. Despite heat the hall fills crowds. Bell delays 11:60 start. Rabbi Koch opens, Clayton Takes the Chair with McCreary presenting permanent officers. Clayton speaks to cheers with flowers from three girls. Cleveland named and applauded. Dixie played as marching club from St. Louis enters with Bryan and Francis spell victory banner.
Denver July 9 The New York delegation at a caucus re elected Norman E Mack as national committeeman and adopted the unlit rule.
The Connecticut delegation held a caucus and decided that John Walsh of Norwalk should present the name of Archibald McNelllor for vice president.
In a caucus the Michigan delegation voted in favor of former Governor W I Douglas of Massachusetts for vice president.
Lincoln Neb July 9 citizens prepare a large demonstration as soon as Bryan is nominated, with participation urged irrespective of party. The forthcoming event signals broad public engagement in response to the political development.
Denver July 9 Hobson predicted war with Japan from lectern but clash met a convention crowd. Coast delegates provided only applause while many tried to block his address. Hobson warned of immediate danger. Bell countered from the coast saying no danger.

Fred Decker flourished a revolver at Mull an on Saturday and fired at the ground. A bullet glanced and struck Tonnes Neilisson's arm severing the main artery. Neilisson bled heavily before officers halted the flow. Decker was arrested and is in custody in a precarious condition.

Wm Hoffman of Spokane suffered a sunstroke yesterday at 2:20 while working at the rock crusher near Athena. He was taken to the Athena hotel, treated by Dr. Plamondon, and after hours of danger, is expected to recover. This region sees rare sunstrokes, the first in years. Hoffman was a newcomer seeking work and had some money with him.
Twenty persons died and as many injured as a large building under construction collapsed in St Petersburg Russia. Fifteen bodies have been recovered while about six remain unaccounted for.

Meyer hauser, son of Frederick Meyerhaus er of St. Paul, and reputed to be the richest man in the United States, was today appointed chairman of the per manent committee chosen by the con ference of the yellow pine lumber men to work out the final details in organizing the merger of timber own ers and lumber manufacturers. The plan adopted by the conference here today for the big holding cor poration provides for approximately $360,000,000 capital. Four or five men present will have ten to twenty million each in trust. Among the St. Louis stockholders are Nelson N. McLeod, Samuel M. Fullerton, C. B. Johnson, J. A. Free man,and Bank President C. H. Hut ting.
San Francisco reports that Battling Nelson and Joe Gans signed to meet again at Ely Nevada on Labor Day with Tex Rickard promoting. The purse stands at 30000 dollars with Nelson earning 20000 and Gans 10000 regardless of result. Rickard and both fighters post 1000 dollars to bind the agreement.
