Weather bulletin reports heavy rains hit fueTon and surrounding hills, triggering localized flooding and travel delays. Emergency crews respond as residents assess damage and await further forecasts from meteorological authorities.
The storm wrecked streets on the North Side and washed out cellars and fences. Homes along South Main Street suffered severe damage as sewers and arched passages collapsed. At the Lindsay property a canyon formed, threatening collapse of the house and yard. Urban and rural roads were impassable with debris and rising waters, while Rev. Diven reported downpoured rain, bowlders, and washed out roadbeds as he traversed the flooded Upper McKay area. Continued on page 10.

Fire started among kitchen ranges at the World’s Fair grounds in St Louis. Fire Chief Swingley quickly summoned all city apparatus, saving the Art Palace and Jerusalem Café from total destruction. Loss to the kitchen $1200. Waldie Chacaty a Syrian and 2 others injured.
Veteran threshing machine man W Gillett, who has threshed grain across Umatilla county and Palouse country, will start on the Fancher place north of Pendleton tomorrow. Three thousand acres have been contracted, with more added as harvest peaks. He’ll use a new outfit with three headers to run a 1200 acre header and thresh twelve hundred seres.
In a Walla Walla game the Pendleton Stars lost to the Walla Walla Wonders eight to four. Earlier La Grande Holy Terrors swept Pendleton with seven to one, fourteen to four, and a final 16 to 14 victory, signaling a crushing skid for Pendleton during the La Grande series.
The Norge struck the Rockall reef 300 miles west of Scotland while at full speed and sank, with more than 200 children among the emigrants. Only three lifeboats escaped. The pope endured a sudden fainting spell and heart palpitations early this morning, causing alarm in Hamburg. The Burgomaster, Dr. Halah Mann, reported the pope was weakened but the attack passed.
Dan Bennett of Kamela and Walla Walla wool dealers report about 300 cords ready for market with prices rising.
