The two contenders rest and train as the noon start time approaches, Dempsey fans optimistic and Willard seen riding and awaiting the gong. Betting on the fight shows Willard crowding a few large wagers while Dempsey attracts heavier sums as New York reports scarce money on the event.

United Press and wire operators reached contracts yielding an annual wage increase totaling about 106000 dollars. The agreement covers employment terms and runs for one year starting June 30. A parallel wage scale was reported by the International News Service and the Associated Press noted a near-identical raise.

The Uniell Co sought a freestanding methanol processing plant in the east end of the city near St Joseph's ward.
