London Jan. 26 Whitaker Wright was found guilty of wrecking the London Tobacco Corporation and sentenced to seven years in prison. An hour later he slumped in heart failure while awaiting transfer at the city prison, dying in the office of the warden. He was famed as a leading swindler with victims exceeding 10 million dollars and created 41 companies totaling nearly 112 million in capitalization, all of which failed. He maintained innocence during a short trial, saying he was not guilty of any intent to do wrong.
