Iron Spraying Proves Effective Against Weeds in Wisconsin
Wisconsin agricultural researchers test a 20 percent iron solution sprayed via atomizing machine to kill mustard and other pests. Prof. R A Moore leads trials, noting repeated applications yearly before maturity, with Germany and France having long experiment histories. The method also appears to fertilize cereals and target Canada thistle and yellow dock. Read the Eas Oregonian.

Wages Reduced in JATL as House considers work for fines
Olympia dispatch reports Representative McDonald introduced a bill to compel those who fail to pay fines or costs to work off half the amount at one dollar per day. Property may be liable for the remaining half. Current law imposes two dollars per diem, a harsher punishment that often leaves fines unpaid. The new bill aims to prevent full escape for payers while aiding those with no means. Also introduced was a bill by Long of Garfield to appropriate ten thousand dollars for a state wagon road across the Blue Mountains spur in Asotin and Garfield counties.
